When adding these to automotive paint is is recommended to add it to the color base coat, or add it to the top clear coat ?

Q:
I'm wanting to blue/black as main color for the midnight blue effect with the gold metallic flakes on top. But seeing the Abyss midnight flip pearl makes me really want to add this to the 2. I feel it should be no problem. But can I get an expert idea on how it should be done. Meaning can I mix the pearl with the black and blue? Or should I keep black/ blue as base. Then get the gloss for the pearl and finish off with one or 2 coats of gold flakes? Or can I miss the pearl with the flakes and go that route? Please help lol make it a video why don't ya please 😅

Hello, You will want to use the black/blue as a base then you will mix the pearl into the topcoat and shoot that over the base. Once the pearl is done you will mix the flake into the topcoat and apply that over the pearl. When this is done you will apply 2-3 more coats of topcoat alone to seal in the flake or else the flake will protrude out from the surface resulting in heavy texture or a gritty feel.

Q:
I currently have my car dipped in Cosmic Black. I was wondering if I could piece together an Abyss Midnight Flip kit, but use Shadow Black instead of Matte Black. Would this yield similar results? I'd really like to go from the mostly blue glow in the Cosmic Black, to the purple glow of the Abyss Midnight Flip. Thanks!

Hi! If you are referring to adding peal tot shadow black that's fine. Just can't add pearl to topcoat and apply over the shadow.
Also, as a standard rule we don't recommend spraying over cure Dip. While it is possible, you can have issues with lifting and adhesion. Thanks, and let me know if I can be of additional assistance.
